Tailwind Plus Alternative for React and shadcn/ui (2026)
You can no longer buy Tailwind Plus. Tailwind Labs closed sign-ups for new customers on September 9, 2026, and as of September 28 every Tailwind Plus storefront page redirects to a sign-in form. If you write React with Tailwind CSS and you wanted a paid library of UI blocks, the closest replacement is a shadcn/ui block registry. ShadcnStore is one: 269 React blocks on Tailwind CSS v4 and Base UI, installed with the shadcn CLI, for a one-time payment.
This post covers what actually changed at Tailwind Labs, what to look for in a replacement, how our catalogue maps to the three areas Tailwind Plus covered, and where Tailwind Plus is still the better product. That last part matters if you already own it.
What changed at Tailwind Plus
On September 9, Tailwind Labs announced that it is joining Shopify. The part that affects buyers is one sentence: "All existing customers will of course maintain their access to products like Tailwind Plus and ui.sh, but we're closing sign ups for new customers to focus on Tailwind CSS at Shopify."
Three things follow from that:
Tailwind CSS itself is unaffected. The same post says the open-source projects stay MIT-licensed and the existing team keeps maintaining them. Nothing about your build changes.
Existing customers keep access. If you bought Tailwind Plus, your account and downloads still work.
The announcement does not say whether new components or templates will be added. Tailwind Plus used to promise future packages at no extra cost. Whether that continues after the move is not stated anywhere we could find.
What a replacement has to match
Tailwind Plus set a high bar, so it is worth being precise about what you are replacing. Per Tailwind's own documentation, the UI blocks targeted Tailwind CSS v4.3, shipped in HTML, React and Vue, and used Headless UI for interactive parts in React and Vue. Catalyst, the application UI kit, is a React starter kit on Headless UI that you download as a zip and copy into your project.
If you work in React, a replacement should give you:
The same styling stack. Tailwind CSS v4, so nothing in your config has to change.
Source you own. Files copied into your repo, not a package you version-pin and wait on.
Accessible interactive primitives. Dialogs, menus, comboboxes and tabs that handle focus and keyboard input correctly, the job Headless UI did for Tailwind Plus.
Coverage of the three areas you actually build: application screens, marketing pages, and ecommerce.
A licence that covers client work, since that is how most people used Tailwind Plus.
How ShadcnStore maps to Tailwind Plus
Tailwind Plus grouped its blocks into Application UI, Marketing and Ecommerce. Our catalogue uses the same three categories, so the mapping is direct.

Two differences that change how you work
Base UI instead of Headless UI
Our blocks sit on shadcn/ui components, which in turn use Base UI for behaviour: focus trapping in dialogs, roving focus in menus, ARIA attributes on comboboxes. The role is the same one Headless UI played in Tailwind Plus. The API is different, so a Headless UI component does not become a Base UI one by renaming imports. Plan to replace interactive pieces rather than port them line by line.
A CLI instead of a zip file
Tailwind Plus code arrives by copying from the site or unzipping a download. Our blocks install through the shadcn CLI, which also pulls in the shadcn/ui components a block depends on. Add the registries to your components.json once:

Where Tailwind Plus is still better
We would rather you pick the right tool than the wrong one from us, so here is where Tailwind Plus has the edge.
Framework coverage. Tailwind Plus ships HTML, React and Vue. We ship React only. If your stack is Vue, Laravel Blade or plain HTML, our blocks will not drop in.
Templates. Tailwind Plus includes a set of complete site templates. We have two free templates live today, the Chronicle admin dashboard and the Frontier SaaS landing page. Our paid templates are listed but not yet released.
Catalogue size. Tailwind's own site listed over 500 UI blocks. We have 269 today.
One design language. Every Tailwind Plus block came from the team that makes Tailwind CSS, and it shows. Our blocks share the same tokens and components, but they vary more in style from section to section.
If you already own Tailwind Plus
Keep it. Your access continues, and the code you downloaded is yours. The two libraries can live in one Tailwind v4 project. Most of the work is aligning colour. Our blocks read colour from shadcn theme variables such as --primary and --background, so set those to your brand once and new blocks match. Tailwind Plus markup you already have keeps whatever classes it came with.
A practical split is to keep Tailwind Plus for the pages you have built and use our blocks for screens it never covered, and for new projects in case its catalogue stops growing.
Other options worth a look
ShadcnStore is not the only shadcn-based answer. ReUI published its own Tailwind Plus comparison and, as of September 28, 2026, sells a Pro plan at $249 one-time. shadcn/ui itself is free and covers the base components if you only need primitives, not full blocks. If your team uses Vue or plain HTML, a shadcn registry is the wrong shape for you, and a framework-agnostic Tailwind kit fits better.
